Conference in Irkutsk discussed the results and prospects of the EAEU GMP inspections of veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturers

Heads of inspection bodies of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission and business, as well as Russian and international experts in the field of Good Manufacturing Practice gathered at a round table organized by AVPHARM at the site of the 7th All-Russian GMP Conference on September, 7.

The discussion was focused on the changes in the inspection mechanism in connection with the new Rules for regulating the circulation of VMPs in the customs territory of the EAEU entering into force in 2024. The dynamics and prospects of GMP inspections conducted by Russian and Belarusian authorized bodies were discussed as well. During the round table, the business community highlighted the low efficiency of Russian GMP inspections of foreign sites of veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturers, as well as the corresponding consequences for veterinary care in the Russian Federation. The Association of Veterinary Pharmaceutical Manufacturers has announced the launch of an open information base, the first section of which is dedicated to Russian and international production sites with valid EAEU GMP certificates (available in Russian)

The representatives of the State Institute of Drugs and Good Practices shared their experience in organizing inspections of foreign medicinal pharmaceutical production sites and the State Institution “Belarusian State Veterinary Center” announced several changes in legislation and the upcoming launch of inspections of foreign production sites. The experts of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “VGNKI” assured the participants of their readiness to conduct inspections of foreign sites in full measure, and also reported the willingness to explain the technical details of GMP inspections that experts are interested in.

The expert of the international association HealthforAnimals expressed an interest in the experience of remote inspections of veterinary pharmaceutical production sites accumulated by Russian inspection bodies and also called for maintaining and expanding international cooperation in terms of quality assurance of manufactured VMPs. The head of the National Veterinary Association spoke about the work of the Russian veterinary pharmaceutical industry in the current conditions, indicating interest in developing export potential and maintaining international cooperation.
