Russian Veterinary Market Gets Three Foreign Vaccines in Two Months

1/11/2023

Today marks two months since Federal Law No. 317-FZ of July 2, 2021 came into force, governing the market release of veterinary medicinal products within Russia’s borders. Here are the results, compiled by AVPHARM, which offer a look at the current situation.

Overall, 105 veterinary medicinal products have been imported to Russia since the regulation took effect, with most of them including antimicrobials made by Belarus and China. The list also includes three immunobiologicals for farm animals produced by French company Ceva Santé Animale.

In 2022, the country, however, saw the import of more than 700 foreign veterinary medicines, 200 of those were immunobiologicals.

AVPHARM notes that the regulation allows foreign companies to deliver veterinary medicinal products to Russia only if their manufacturing sites comply with GMP of the Eurasian Economic Union. As of November 1, most foreign manufacturing sites have failed to pass GMP audits, and therefore their products are no longer authorized to access the Russian market. At the same time, 38 foreign production sites have valid local GMP certificates. This year, 41 audits have been carried out and 16 local GMP certificates have been issued.
